Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before booking a Shanghai journey.

What services do you offer?

Choose a private custom tour by combining places and experiences, an all-inclusive Day Tour, or a standalone airport, railway or hotel transfer.

How do I book?

Explore places or experiences, add them to My Trip, choose your services and booking details, then pay securely with PayPal.

Are journeys private?

Yes. Shanghai Welcome services are planned for your party rather than a shared sightseeing group.

What is included in a custom tour?

The booking summary identifies your selected guide and private-car services. When car service is selected, its shown price includes the vehicle, driver, fuel and routine road expenses. Admission tickets, meals and personal purchases are not included unless the booking says otherwise.

What is included in a Day Tour?

Each Day Tour is a ready-made package with its inclusions and per-guest price shown on its detail page. Its package price is kept separate from a custom itinerary service calculation.

How are prices shown?

All prices on the website and at PayPal checkout are in US dollars (USD). Custom-tour service pricing depends on party size, selected services and duration. Day Tours use their displayed package pricing.

Can you collect us from the airport, railway station or cruise port?

Yes. Select the relevant pickup type when booking. Airport, railway-station and cruise-port pickups have the displayed per-guest pickup supplement; standalone transfers can be booked on the Transfers page.

How far ahead should I book?

Book as early as possible for the best availability. Eligible same-day services require at least three hours' notice. High-speed rail Day Tours should be booked at least 24 hours ahead; passport details can be supplied after payment through My Orders if needed.

Can I change the itinerary on the day?

Within practical time, travel and opening-hour limits, your local team can help adjust the pace or make small itinerary changes on the day.

What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel free of charge up to 36 hours before your scheduled start time for a full refund. Cancellations within 36 hours and no-shows are generally non-refundable. Read the Refund Policy for details.

What if it rains or severe weather affects the day?

We operate in normal weather and can adapt the route where practical. If severe weather makes the service unsafe, we will discuss rescheduling or the appropriate refund option.

Do you offer travel insurance?

We do not sell travel insurance. We recommend arranging appropriate independent travel insurance before your trip.

What languages do your guides speak?

English-speaking support is the standard service. If you need another language, include it in your request and we will confirm availability before the service.

Can you accommodate families, older travellers or dietary needs?

Yes. Share mobility needs, children's ages, dietary requirements or other preferences in your booking notes so we can plan appropriately.

What travel documents do I need?

Carry the documents required for your journey. High-speed rail tickets require passport information for each traveller. For entry and visa requirements, always check the latest official information for your nationality before travel.

How can I get help during my trip?

Use the contact details in your booking confirmation for trip coordination, or email vip@shanghaiwelcome.com for assistance.

Can you help with destinations beyond Shanghai?
